Some Advantages of Steam Generators
The steam generator design uses less steel. It uses a single tube coil instead of many smaller diameter boiler tubes. Water is continuously pumped into the coils using a special feed pump.
A steam generator is a primarily forced flow design that converts incoming water to steam as it passes through the primary water coil. As the water passes through the coils, heat is transferred from the hot air, converting the water to steam. No steam drum is used in the steam generator design, since the boiler steam has a zone where it is separated from the water, so the steam/water separator needs 99.5% steam quality. Since generators don’t use large pressure vessels like fire hoses, they’re typically smaller and quicker to start up, making them ideal for quick on-demand situations.
